Reserve a Curriculum Learning Trunk Today!

Check out themed lesson plans and activities about the African American experience for grades K-12. There are eight different trunks to choose from including: Rosa Parks, African American All-Stars, Juneteenth, Martin Luther King, Jr., Kwanzaa, African American Women, Underground Railroad, and Voting. Each themed trunk includes manipulatives and lesson plans that utilize the 5E model and contains objectives, TEKS, and accommodations for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Guidelines for Use of the Learning Trunk:

To reserve a Curriculum Trunk, simply call the Brazos Valley African American Museum at (979) 775-3961 or complete the Contact Us Form with the following information:

  • Teacher’s Name
  • School Name and District
  • Grade Level
  • Contact Information
  • Requested Trunk Number & Theme
  • Dates Needed*

*Curriculum Trunks may be reserved for a maximum of two weeks.

Lesson plans and trunk material are donated by the undergraduate students in the Lohman Learning and Transforming Lives Learning Communities in the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University - with the support of Lauren Williams and Dr. Valerie Hill-Jackson.
