“The Right to Vote” Opening Reception

Join the Brazos Valley African American Museum on Saturday, August 22 from 1pm-3pm for the opening reception of the newest exhibition, “The Right to Vote”.

The exhibition will include pieces from the Smithsonian Institution poster exhibition “Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence,” which commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, giving women the right to vote. The exhibition will also include materials regarding Congressman John Lewis and his connection to the Brazos Valley.

The exhibition will be on display through November 28, 2020.

The Brazos Valley African American Museum is located at 500 E. Pruitt Street, Bryan, and opened Tuesday through Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 10am to 4pm.

The museum practices physical distancing, cleaning protocols, and face masks as recommended by the CDC.
